Several families in the Bisengo district, in the commune of Bandalungwa, spend their nights under the stars following the floods caused by the rain which had fell on Thursday May 1 on the city of Kinshasa.
The houses located on Kasa-Vubu avenue, between the CBCO medical center and the commercial block, as well as those of the Swala and Munza avenues, were strongly affected.
The clogged gutters aggravate the situation, resulting in the degradation of avenues and preventing certain residents from accessing their plots.
A mother denounces the inaction of the authorities in the face of this social crisis:
“At the time, we had public discharges. But today we throw our filth anywhere; Which leads to the clogging of the gutters. We suffer because there are no real drainage systems. The authorities seem to wait for the cases of death to intervene. »»
Floods affect not only the daily lives of the inhabitants, but also the environment of this part of the capital.
« Water enters our homes, everywhere. When it is present, you could not even ask us questions. I even have acne thrusts on my whole skin », Has had a daughter of the Bisengo district, in Bandalungwa.
For several months, the living conditions of the inhabitants of the Bisengo district have continued to deteriorate under the effect of the rains.
