The canton of Bern simplifies the statement now for certain services related to care as well as for care provided to people with disabilities living in home, in a housing community or in a stable environment with relatives. This decision of the Council-Executive is linked to a motion filed by a socialist deputy.

(Keystone-ATS) “As far as possible, the care and care of people with disabilities must remain assured by the same people as before and ensure that the solutions that have proven themselves can be maintained,” said the canton on Thursday. The services must be provided through a home support service only when it is appropriate and proportioned.
The new law, adopted in 2023, wants to allow people with disabilities to lead a more self -determinated and autonomous life. The central element is the adaptation of the financing system for support services. Its introductory phase started in 2024 and should be completed in 2027.
