Funded, like all specific regional cancer (DSRC) systems, mainly by the Regional Agency, the ONCORIF Association has chosen to respond to the information and training mission of professionals, patients and their loved ones, on the healthcare health course, innovatively with the launch of two episodes of monthly podcasts.

An idea previously submitted to members of the working group “Thrombosis and cancer”, by Pascale Gendron, of the ONCORIF Projects pole. « This group had launched a regional of professional practices a few years ago, in order to question the level of knowledge of health professionals on the management of thrombosis in patients with cancer. The results had revealed a strong need for information, especially on the recommendations “recalls the head of projects. Plates dedicated to the subject had then been published, as well as an e-learning tool, in collaboration with the DSRC ONCO Nouvelle-Aquitaine, and an information page dedicated on the oncorif website.

In 2024, to follow up on the updating of the recommendations of 2022, a reflection was carried out within the association to the promotion channel. « Only 60 professionals from Île-de-France had resorted to e-learning, for example. It was then that the idea of ​​the podcast emerged. In France, nearly 200 million digital audio content is listened to each month. The podcast is easily accessible, including in nomadic mode. A particularly important asset in view of the timetable of caregivers. And then, we wanted to capture the attention of our listeners by creating a more intimate relationship with them ”, pursue Pascale Gendron. The initiative appeals to the members of the labor group, and Sandra Lefevre, director of ONCORIF, who see it as the alliance of dynamic , valued expertise and good shared practices.

“It is easy to consult a podcast on a mobile phone by listening to it or reading the subtitles, Complete Marina Réchou, Head of Communication at Oncorif. It is also a way for health professionals to identify regional experts in different areas and therefore have resources. »» Lasting between six and ten minutes, this new audio format is also available on all platforms: Spotify, Deezer, YouTube, Apple.

“Thrombosis and cancer: let’s talk about it!” »»

The series, “thrombosis and cancer: let’s talk about it”, understands six episodes: what is thrombosis? ; Thrombosis and cancer, what support? ; How to succeed in multidisciplinarity? ; What course in Ville-Hôpital care? ; Thrombosis and cancer and therapeutic ? And, finally, a episode on the latest advances in research.

For this launch (the first episode was broadcast on April 3), oncologists, practitioners and specialists but also nurses, pharmacists and workers were mobilized. « We wanted to involve all the professions represented in our regional working group, in order to raise awareness to the care pathway And to enhance a multidisciplinary and coordinated approach to the management of thrombosis. Let us not that venous thromboembolic is the second cause of mortality in patients with cancer », Underlines Pascale Gendron.

The objective of “lab oncorif” is also to touch A varied audience: health professionals, students but also patients and their loved ones. “On a subject as serious as cancer, those concerned need to be reassured but also to know. We also planned, in a second step, to specifically contact caregivers. We make sure to popularize information without being too simplistic because we systematically use experts ”, notes Marina Réchou.

Choice of themes and speakers

For the next episodes, the themes, chosen according to the Oncorif roadmap and the subjects of working groups, do not lack: hospitalization at home, innovation in oncology, clinical, oncogenetic research … with, why not, testimonies of patients. So good listening!
