One is Cherbourg, the other Caennais, however, that did not prevent them from recording remotely and taking out their everything premier EP (A shorter format than an album, generally containing 4 or 5 titles).

Julien Tellier and Florian Guillaume

Julien Tellier is a member of the Cherbourgeois group Lady’stealer, who combines American blues and rock, in which he plays harmonica and guitar. As for Florian Guillaume, he is a drummer in the post-rock Hottot group.

The duo trained in Caen (Calvados) in 2019, with the desire to share their compositions. But the year 2020, marked by the health crisis, put their project in parentheses. Subsequently, everyone was taken by their personal and professional projects.

Despite everything, they have never lost sight of their goal and finally have realized their collaboration by a first EP from Five titles the 25 avril 2025. The 130 km that separate them did not hinder their creativity. Everyone recorded at homeand Florian took care of the mastering to harmonize the different sound elements.

Within their group, Aside, Julien assures the chant and the guitarwhile Florian is at synths and “machines” (samples). Their musical universe, which they define aselectro-rockdraws his influences from Massive Attack, Darkside, Radiohead, Trentemøller, Archive or Portishead.

To accompany the release of their first EP, they wanted to give a visual dimension to their music. In search of inspiration on Instagram, Julien discovered the of Justine Thery-Minardi, photographer and videographer artist based in Cherbourg. Its aesthetics appeared to them in perfect adequacy with their universe.

Videos: Right now on

The first clip, illustrating the song Fading Crownmixes scenes shot in Cherbourg (we recognize in particular the marina), filmed in argentic film, with images of film archives like The ghost of the opera (1925), Nosfer (1922) or advertisements from the 1930s denouncing the manifest sexism of the time.

A first visual and committed clip

In agreement with the , Justine wished to highlight the ghostly figures of patriarchy and the masculinism of the past, which continue to influence, sometimes unconsciously, our current diagrams of thought.

The clip thus adopts a nuanced feminist posture. It is not a question of demand in anger, but a call to equity. A strong symbolic gesture, represented in particular by the abandonment of the “wolf ”, as if to free itself from our negative inheritances.

Next step for Aside, composing songs to offer, very soon, a scenic set between Cherbourg and Caen.
