Maria Mettral presented her latest weather report on Sunday evening on RTS. The Geneva actress said goodbye to French-speaking viewers after 35 years on the air. After a tribute at 7:30 p.m., she received a large bouquet of flowers from French-speaking television weatherman Philippe Jeanneret.

This emblematic figure of RTS took his first steps in television in April 1989 by presenting his first bulletin. She was surprised to have been selected for this position, because she admits to having acted “silly” during the selections. Her humor allowed her to be spotted.
Maria Mettral has cultivated this funny and quirky side on the air and boasts a certain awkwardness. “I used a lot of the end-of-year bloopers,” she noted in a short farewell video produced by RTS. But “the people are nice”, despite a few slaps with a penknife, she concluded in the 7:30 p.m.
The Babibouchettes
In addition to weather, Maria Mettral has participated in numerous broadcasts. She lent her voice to “Babibouchettes” and played in the soap operas “Bigoudis” and “La Chronique”. The actress also participated in entertainment shows and the cultural magazine “Hotel”.
At 64, she will also continue to give voice lessons to RTS employees. She also continued her career in the theater. Without any nostalgia, she specifies: “I am reaching a stage in my life where I need to concentrate on the most essential, and for me it is the stage and the classes that I give”.
Last May, she was on stage in Chêne-Bourg (GE) in “L’Autre”, a play by the Geneva writer Mélanie Chappuis. She began her acting career in 1981 on the stage of the Théâtre de Carouge in “Cyrano de Bergerac”, under the direction of Georges Wod. Many plays will follow, performed in practically all the theaters in French-speaking Switzerland as well as abroad.
