Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott has responded to persistent accusations that the band uses backing tracks during their concerts, firmly affirming their commitment to authenticity and live performance. During a recent interview with the Life In The Stocks podcast, Elliott reaffirmed Def Leppard’s commitment to providing authentic, unadorned performances.

Speaking candidly about the group’s approach, Elliott clarified: “Every word is sung. Every guitar chord is played. We don’t cheat.” He explained the nuanced use of effects and loops, emphasizing their role in enhancing the live experience without compromising its integrity.

Acknowledging that singers are under particular scrutiny, Elliott noted that it is difficult to maintain peak performance, particularly in the rigorous environment of touring. Despite occasional setbacks like illness or fatigue, Elliott emphasized Def Leppard’s strong commitment to delivering high-quality concerts.

Addressing critics who question the group’s authenticity, Elliott expressed astonishment, suggesting that their disbelief may stem from a disparity in standards. He invited skeptics to attend Def Leppard concerts, encouraging them to experience the unfiltered energy and skill they demonstrate on stage.
