Israeli strikes kill more than 50 people in Gaza

A series of Israeli strikes left more than 50 dead on Monday in Gaza City, in the north of the Palestinian territory, local rescuers announced.

According to Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal, these strikes targeted the territory’s largest city throughout the day, affecting “schools, homes and even gatherings.”

One of these strikes left eleven people dead and several injured in a house in the Choujaiya neighborhood and another targeted a group of Palestinians, seven of whom were killed in Al-Maamal Street in this city, according to Civil Defense.

“There is no room in hospitals”

Five people were also killed by a strike on a school in the Al-Darraj neighborhood, according to this source. “There is no room in hospitals to accommodate the injured,” Mahmoud Bassal told AFP.

These bombings come as Israeli and Hamas officials have reported progress towards a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, associated with the release of hostages held in the territory since the Islamist movement’s attack. Palestinian against Israel on October 7, 2023, which sparked the war.
