In addition to dozens of villages and 3,400 km2 of Ukrainian territory, the Russians will have conquered in 2024 six cities in Ukraine which had more than 10,000 inhabitants before the war. And, at the start of 2025, they have just claimed the conquest – “liberation” in the official term – of Kourakhove. The Russian Defense Ministry estimated on Monday that this conquest would make it possible to seize the rest of the Donetsk region “at an accelerated pace”. The Deep State Map site, close to the Ukrainian army, and the majority of other cartographers who geolocate images of the conflict confirm the almost total capture of the small industrial town of Donbass, which had 18,000 inhabitants before the outbreak of the conflict.
