Nathalie Koenders, mayor of Dijon, plans to leave the social network

Tuesday January 7, 2025, the mayor of , Nathalie Koenders held, for the first time, a greeting ceremony addressed to the press. In front of around thirty journalists gathered at the town hall, she wished to recall “her attachment to freedom of expression”, ten years to the day after the Islamist attack against Charlie Hebdo: “The press is an essential actor in our civic balance which helps to guarantee the transparency and accountability of other powers.” Nathalie Koenders also spoke of the need to have accurate information at a time when “fake news is increasing”. As such, she announced that she was considering leaving the social network X (formerly Twitter), owned by multi-billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk.

“I think I’m going to leave Network X”

“I have not been attacked personally but I think I am going to leave the X network. It is full of fake news, horrible and terrible images” says Nathalie Koenders. “I noticed this recently, during a family trip to Milan, between Christmas and New Year’s Day. While I was near the cathedral, some people announced on X an invasion of Islamists on the square… I saw clearly that it was fake news since I was present. This motivated me even more to get out of this network. »

As a reminder, Nathalie Koenders’ X account is followed by 7,323 subscribers today.
