This is not the first time that Elon Musk has sought to influence political life in Germany, since he recently signed a pro-AfD column in the newspaper World on Sunday.

More than ever, Elon Musk is trying to influence politics in Europe. After having notably called for new elections in the United Kingdom, the billionaire will participate on January 9 in a conversation with the leader of the German nationalist party AfD, Alice Weidel, candidate for the post of chancellor in the legislative elections on February 23.

The main topics discussed during this interview will be freedom of expression and the AfD's ideas for a strong Germany, stressed Alice Weidel's spokesperson to our Belgian colleagues from The Free . This is not the first time that Elon Musk has sought to influence political life in Germany, since he recently signed a pro-AfD column in the newspaper World on Sunday. The person close to Donald Trump stated in particular that “Germany is on the brink of economic and cultural collapse and the AfD is the only one that can save the country from destruction.” Positions that irritate those in power: Olaf Scholz, German Chancellor, indicated in his New Year's speech that he did not belong to the “owners of social networks” to determine who the Germans should vote for.

“Starmer must go”

In recent weeks, the billionaire has increased his attacks against European political life. Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir “Starmer must go and he must be brought to justice”wrote Friday on his social network X the multibillionaire. He also called for the release of British activist Tommy Robinson and supports the anti-immigration Reform UK party, whose leader, Nigel Farage, he recently met.

Elon Musk also met Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, a key figure of the radical right, when the latter visited Donald Trump in Florida at the beginning of December. The 53-year-old entrepreneur, who has no official role in the future Trump government but has been tasked with a mission on reducing public spending, also discussed “dictators” the constitutional judges having recently annulled the presidential election in Romania, against a backdrop of suspicions of Russian interference in favor of the nationalist candidate Calin Georgescu.

Elon Musk finally enthusiastically supports the head of the Italian government, Giorgia Meloni, the country's most right-wing leader since 1945, who holds him for “genius”.
