At the time, Sheila Fox was 16 when she vanished from Coventry, England, in 1972. English police were pleased to have brought to an end one of the longest investigations into a disappearance .
One photo was all it took to solve one of the UK's longest-running missing persons investigations. In 1972, 16-year-old Sheila Fox disappeared from Coventry, England. Since then, no one has identified the young woman's trace. Finally, 52 years later, she was found alive and in good health, says the British newspaper The Guardian .
According to the West Midlands Police in charge of the case, the teenager lived with her parents. At the time, investigators had thought that the young girl had run away with her boyfriend, but without certainty.
Found thanks to a photo
This Sunday, December 29, the police tried once again to look for clues as to the disappearance of the young girl, by publishing a photo of her from the time in black and white, of fairly poor quality, on the networks social.
In just a few hours, Internet users contacted authorities who were able to confirm that Sheila Fox, now 68 years old, was alive and had moved to another region of the country. “We searched through every piece of evidence we could find and managed to locate a photo of Sheila. We are a small team of police officers (…). Every missing person has a story, and their families and friends deserve to know what happened to them and, hopefully, find them.”declared to our colleagues Jenna Shaw, of the unsolved cases investigation team.
Since Sheila Fox was found, the police have deleted their call for testimony from their social networks which finally made it possible to find the trace of the Englishwoman.
