The electoral events and political upheavals of the past year illustrate a double observation. On the one hand, a profound paralysis: emergencies seem to have been put on hold. Too many leaders have rushed to do nothing, sacrificing real priorities on the altar of electoral strategies. On the other hand, this prolonged inaction has insidiously created uncertainty to the detriment of hope. One day, those responsible for this inertia will have to answer for the consequences of their failings.

Mass price increases, pension at 66, reduction in registration fees… What is changing – and what should have changed – in 2025

On the international stage, our eyes will be on the resilience of the Ukrainians since the first Russian strikes and incursions. After almost three years of war and intensive bombings, we all aspire to an end to hostilities and the liberation of these battered people. The return of Donald Trump to the White House augurs a significant turning point, but not necessarily a happy and balanced one. In the climatic and geopolitical fields, his re-election also raises a number of uncertainties, even concerns and threats. But it will perhaps finally push weakened Europeans to pull themselves together in favor of an exciting common future.

At home, the federal and Brussels negotiators must land after months of irresponsible stagnation. Political paralysis cannot continue.

It is high time that everyone, at their own level, works hard to meet these countless challenges. Boldness and will will help. We still need collective intelligence, because no one will be right alone…
