Nothing like a good northern defense to tease the patience of Quévert. In an intense first period, the locals chained together chances – in vain – while the Roubaisiens failed to be bold in front of Acevedo’s goal.
At the break, the score was goalless, which did not particularly worry Cirilo Garcia, the coach of the Costarmoricans: “In the locker room, I remained very calm,” he explained. The hard work was done on the physical aspect. We had pressed the Northerners hard and we suspected that they were inevitably going to take on water.”
“Quévert delivers the blow”
From the restart, Quévert took control of the match, Guido Pellizzari opened the scoring with a penalty (28′) then Tomas Cardoso and Ronan Ricaille, with two superb shots, quickly widened the score (3-0, 35′).
The difference was made but the game continued at a frantic pace. Roubaix first missed a penalty then Gurvan Lemarié, with a shot into the top corner, increased the score (4-0, 42′). Tomas Cardoso, again, and Corentin Turluer finally delivered the blow to the Northerners who were not asking for so much (8-0). “It was my first match in N1 and I scored an assist, I’m super happy,” Gurvan Lemarié relished.
