Brazilian President Lula operated on for “intracranial hemorrhage”

The leader “is doing well”, the Syrian-Lebanese hospital in Sao Paulo announced on Tuesday. He was hospitalized after experiencing a headache following a domestic accident on October 19.

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, 79 years old, underwent surgery on the night of Monday December 9 to Tuesday December 10 for a “intracranial hemorrhage” et “is doing well”announced the Syrian-Lebanese hospital in Sao Paulo. “The operation took place without complications”said the hospital in a press release published on Lula's account on several social networks. He remains under surveillance in an intensive care bed.

Lula, who is serving his third term since 2023, underwent a craniotomy, a surgical procedure in which part of the skull is temporarily removed to allow access to the brain.

The president was hospitalized after experiencing a headache following a domestic accident suffered by Lula on October 19. According to the Brazilian press, President Lula had an accident in the bathroom, while he was sitting on a bench and making final preparations for his trip to Russia. He fell backwards and hit his head.
