The man initially published the photo on social networks as a joke but the brand responded and even offered a voucher.
On November 11, Harry Sieger published on Facebook in a group of more than a million members called Dull Men's Club, i.e. “the dull men's club”a photo of his Mars, which he bought at a gas station in the south-east of England, the famous caramel chocolate bar with ripples on the top. The only surprising problem is that his candy bar is all smooth. “I wonder if this is a cost-cutting measure,” he quips.
£2 compensation
The next day he contacted the company, Mars Wrigley UK, to understand how this defect was possible. Finally, the company sent him a letter with a voucher for 2 pounds sterling (2.40 euros). He published the letter on Facebook where he said “Who’s laughing now?”
“I think 2 pounds is great, it'll give me two free Mars bars. Maybe they could have sent me more but I'm not ungrateful. I think it's amazing after all what happened, having received the 2 pound voucher” explains Harry Sieger in an interview with BBC.
For its part, the company explained earlier in the month that the chocolate bar could have slipped during the production line and escaped the blast of air which causes the ripples.
