In total, 10,000 customers are still without electricity after the passage of the Caetano storm, announced the company Enedis in a press release published Sunday November 24 at 9 a.m. The most affected regions are Normandy, with 5,300 homes without power, and Pays de la Loire, with 4,700 customers affected. More than 95% of homes that had been deprived of electricity have now been restored. The Enedis teams and its service providers remain mobilized in the hope of restoring power to all customers by the evening.
The number of homes without electricity rose to 270,000 during the night from Thursday to Friday, the result of violent winds and snowfall which caused trees and branches to fall on the cables. Enedis had mobilized in advance 2,200 of its technicians and 400 service providers, specifying that these were deployed “since the travel safety conditions were met”after this first snowy episode of the season, during which winds blew up to 130 km/h. Helicopters and drones are also used to carry out diagnostics.
