United States President-elect Donald Trump announced on Saturday the nomination as Secretary of Energy of Chris Wright, hydraulic fracturing magnate and CEO of the company Liberty Energy, who will “reduce administrative formalities”to stimulate investment in fossil fuels.
“As Secretary of Energy, Chris will be a key leader, driving innovation, cutting red tape, and ushering in a new 'golden age of American prosperity and world peace'”Donald Trump said in a statement. His candidacy was supported by companies in the oil sector, specifies the Financial Times.
Chris Wright will also be a member of the brand new National Energy Council (CNE), the creation of which was announced Friday by the president-elect, and whose mission will be to “overseeing the path to U.S. energy dominance”. The boss of Liberty Energy is “a leading energy entrepreneur. He has worked in the fields of nuclear, solar, geothermal, as well as oil and gas.commented Donald Trump in the press release.
“Most importantly, Chris was one of the pioneers who helped launch the American shale revolution that fueled American energy independence and transformed global energy markets and geopolitics”once again greeted the president-elect. A graduate of the prestigious MIT and UC Berkeley, Chris Wright founded the company Pinnacle Technologies in 1992, “whose innovations help launch commercial shale gas production and create a hydraulic fracture mapping industry”specifies the Liberty Energy website.
He later served as chairman of Stroud Energy, “one of the first producers of shale gas, before selling it to shale pioneer Range Resources in 2006”. Chris Wright resides in Colorado with his wife.
