With 358,371 affiliated at the end of last May, almost 11,500 more than in April, Moroccans are the largest group of foreigners employed and contributing to social security, ahead of workers in Romania (351,890 contributors), a specified the ministry in a press release.

Workers from Morocco and Romania are followed by affiliates from Colombia (205,890), Italy (194,182), Venezuela (157,784) and China (157,784), added the same source. The number of foreign social security affiliates reached a new record and stood at 2,882,967 employees, after increasing by 77,912 in May, according to the ministry.

Since December 2019, before the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of foreign contributors has increased by 627,864 people. Of the total number of foreign subsidiaries at the end of the fifth month of the year, 925,282 were from EU countries (32.1%) and 1,957,685 from third countries (67.9%).

In addition, the system has 70,675 members from Ukraine, 23,416 more than in January 2022 (+49.5%), before the start of the war. Of the total number of employed foreigners, nearly 1.6 million are men and more than 1.3 million are women.
