Stephen Miller, who served as an advisor to Donald Trump during his first term as president, will receive a promotion, according to CNN. The president-elect will entrust him with the position of deputy chief of staff of the White House. His responsibility: to implement the administration’s policies, including his most cherished proposal, the mass expulsion of millions of illegal immigrants. “He said a second Trump administration would seek to increase the number of deportations tenfold to more than a million per year,” recalls CNN.

Trump reassured a number of his critics last week by quickly appointing Susie Wiles, the co-director of his campaign, as White House chief of staff. The first woman to be chosen to serve in the role, Wiles is renowned for her ability to say no to Trump, at least on occasion. In her position as chief of staff, she promises in particular to exercise control over the people who will have access to her boss. We will see how this translates into reality.

Miller is one of the most controversial members of Trump’s entourage. In 2018, he helped design and implement the controversial family separation policy at the southern border. At Trump’s recent rally at Madison Square Garden, he expressed his blatant xenophobia by proclaiming “America is for Americans and only for Americans!” ”, a phrase that echoed the slogan “Germany for the Germans – foreigners out” used by the Nazis.
