INTERVIEW – The expert believes that Ukraine’s Western partners must be ready to step up their aid if they want to see a “realistic strategy towards victory”.

Mykola Bielieskov is an associate researcher at theNational Institute for Strategic Studies a think tank placed under the authority of the Ukrainian presidency, and analyst with the NGO Come Back Alive, which helps the Ukrainian army thanks to crowdfunding.


LE FIGARO.- You have just published a article calling on Ukraine and its Western partners to adopt a realistic strategy towards victory » . Why is there an emergency? ?

Mykola BIELIESKOV.- Since the Ukrainian army’s failed offensive in the summer of 2023, there has been no public debate about what the best strategy in this war against Russia might look like. The approach of the Biden Administration and NATO is based on crisis management. In essence: we are keeping Ukraine afloat to prevent it from sinking, and nothing more. But after two years of war, this approach reached its limits.
