Wimbledon is offering a record prize pool for its championships this year, with even a first-round loser collecting a £60,000 consolation prize.

Total prize money at Wimbledon will reach a record £50 million (€59 million) this year, officials at the All England Club have revealed.

The 2024 singles champions will each earn £2.7 million (€3.2 million) and even a first-round contender will be able to console themselves with a £60,000 (€71,000) prize when he will be eliminated.

The total amount of prizes on offer is £5.3 million (€6.3 million) more than last year, an increase of 11.9%. The winners’ checks are worth £350,000 (€414,000) each for 2023, a jump of 14.9% from last year.

The total prize money from the Championships over the last 10 years has doubled from £25 million (€29.6 million) in 2014 to this year’s prize money.

Announcing the news, Deborah Jevans, President of the All England Club, said: “With just days to go before this year’s Championships, I am delighted to announce a record £50 million prize fund, with increases for players in every turn and every stage. event.
