Rachid H., an MRE, and his wife of German nationality, have been missing since last Friday, while they were hiking in the mountains of Msemrir, in the province of Tinghir. The searches carried out to find them have not yet nothing given.
Without news of the couple since Friday, their relatives reported their disappearance to the competent authorities. Immediately, members of the Royal Gendarmerie and local authorities, as well as friends of the missing, began searching for them. Crews combed the area, scouring the surrounding mountains and valleys.
Due to snowfall and heavy rain, helicopters were requested to fly over the area to check whether the missing had not been victims of a road accident and whether their vehicle had not fallen into a ravine. So far, searches have yielded nothing.

“Research continues actively. We are doing everything possible to find the missing. We understand the concern of families and friends and assure them that we will spare no effort to locate them,” assured a local authority in a statement to the press, adding that the governor of the province is closely following this matter.
Many friends of the couple reacted on social networks following the announcement of their disappearance, showing their compassion and closeness to the families and calling for an intensified search to find them. Furthermore, the French and German embassies assured the Moroccan authorities of their availability to support them in the search.
