The Spanish team confirms the death, at just 28 years old, of one of its former footballers, victim of the violent bad weather which has hit the region for several days.

CF deeply deplores the death of José Castillejo, victim of the disasters caused by the floods.” This Thursday, October 31, early in the evening, the football club (Liga) confirmed that one of its former players had died, at only 28 years old, in the floods which have hit the region hard for several days.

“José Castillejo was part of the club's Academy up to junior level,” the tribute press release continued, “and played in several Valencian Community teams.”

A former player at the training center, José Castillejo played for teams in the region following his time at Valencia: Paterna, Buñol and Vilamarxant.

More than 150 people died due to the disaster, and dozens more are missing. All weekend sporting matches have been canceled in the region, as have the La Liga matches between Villarreal (Valencian Community) and Rayo Vallecano, as well as between Valencia and Real Madrid, both scheduled for this Saturday, November 2.
