In Africa, countries such as Namibia and Niger will have to prepare to welcome many venomous snakes on their territory.

According to a scientific study, the world will experience a significant migration of certain venomous snakes in the coming years.

This is due to climate change which impacts their natural habitats and they will have to cross certain borders to survive.

The study published in the journal The Lancet Planetary Health explains that by 2070, more than 200 species of snakes are expected to change regions.

This situation will surely have repercussions on biodiversity and public health in the countries concerned.

Indeed, the WHO reveals that between 80 thousand and 130 thousand people die each year because of snake bites. Also, no less than 400,000 have amputations or suffer permanent injuries.

Figures which will surely give pause to the countries which will be the preferred destination for these venomous snakes forced to migrate due to climate change.

“In Africa, Niger and Namibia will be the first affected by these migrations of venomous snakes”explain the scientists.

Apart from these two countries, other territories will be the target of these venomous snakes, particularly in Asia, whether in China, Nepal and Myanmar.

Rattlesnakes, cobras, mambas and especially the West Gabon viper are the species of snakes that will migrate according to studies.
