A 72-year-old American, Stephen Hubbard, accused of having been a “mercenary” in the service of Ukraine, detained in secret for more than two years, was sentenced Monday to nearly seven years in prison following ‘an express trial.

Judge Alexandra Kovalevskaïa handed down a “sentence of 6 years and ten months, to be served in a colony (penitentiary) under normal regime”, noted the AFP journalists present at the hearing at the Moscow court.
