Thomas Brezzo, a lawyer by profession, is charged with violating investigative secrecy during an investigation into the resounding robbery of a luxury watch store.
Thomas Brezzo, president of the National Council of Monaco, was indicted for violating the secrecy of the investigation during an investigation into the resounding robbery of a luxury watch boutique, the Attorney General of Monaco said on Saturday.
In a press release responding to an article from Monaco-Matin who revealed this information, Stéphane Thibault, the attorney general, specified that Thomas Brezzo was indicted for the counts of “complicity in violating the secrecy of the investigation and instruction and concealment of this offense, for having (…) sought to obtain elements from another investigation file, which he contests”.
The local daily mentions the indictment of other people, notably a policewoman who would have been placed under judicial supervision, information that Stéphane Thibault did not confirm to AFP.
Indentation
Thomas Brezzo, a lawyer by profession, is suspected by the courts of having sought to obtain information on the investigation concerning a spectacular heist which took place in May in the principality, during which luxury watches, worth more than four million euros, had been stolen from a store.
According to Monaco-Matin Thomas Brezzo would have among his former customers one of the owners of the store. The general prosecutor’s office clarified that “three investigating judges are working actively, in charge and in defense, and will decide, at the end of the judicial investigation, whether there are sufficient elements to justify its referral to the court”.
This indictment has no impact on the mandate of Thomas Brezzo. The latter indicated that he had withdrawn from his activity as a lawyer since his election in April as president of the National Council.
