On a work trip to Paris, Thursday May 2 and Friday May 3, Nadia Fettah Alaoui, Minister of Economy and Finance, spoke with Mathias Cormann, Secretary General of the OECD. In the presence of Samira Sitaïl, Moroccan ambassador to France, the minister had a series of meetings in the context of the OECD Council of Ministers Meeting (RCM).

Of all the events organized by the OECD, the RCM is the one bringing together leaders at the highest level of government responsibilities: in fact, the Ministers of Finance, the Economy, Foreign Affairs, Trade and those leading other ministries of OECD member and partner countries, as well as representatives of international organizations, indicates La Vie Éco.

At their meeting, the remarks exchanged between Nadia Fettah Alaoui and Mathias Cormann focused on strengthening cooperation and relations between the Kingdom and the OECD.

Their discussion also had the theme of Morocco’s presence in the various OECD institutions.

During this OECD RCM, Nadia Fettah Alaoui also met with various ministers and officials of international and regional organizations.

A country associated with 12 OECD committees, Morocco benefits from participant status in three committees and the status of “guest country» within 32 OECD committees. The Kingdom has also adhered to 35 legal instruments of the organization.

Various flagship OECD publications regularly deal with Morocco, including “Development dynamics in Africa” and the “Public revenue statistics in Africa“. The Kingdom is also the subject of specific policy reviews on the themes of education, public governance, gender equality, regional development, and even the integrity of the public sector…

In this year 2024, the OECD RCM was held under the following theme: “Creating the momentum for change together: leading global debates by adopting objective and reliable approaches in support of sustainable and inclusive growth“.

This year again, the RCM was able to offer OECD members and non-members the opportunity to engage in high-level discussions on the decisive issues facing the international community today.
