The Ukrainian president has just been placed on the wanted list, says the Russian Interior Ministry.
A decision which according to kyiv demonstrates “the desperation of propaganda and the state machine” of Moscow.
It is a symbolic decision, more than two years after the start of the war in Ukraine. According to a notice visible on Saturday on the website of the Russian Interior Ministry, Moscow has just placed Volodymyr Zelensky on the list of wanted people. A decision that has been made”under an article of the penal code“, we can read in this short text which says nothing else about the nature of these accusations.
In kyiv, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted by affirming that this wanted notice demonstrated “theThe despair of Russian propaganda and the state machine, which no longer knows what to invent to attract attention.” He points out that Vladimir Putin is himself under an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in March 2023 for the alleged deportation to Russia of thousands of Ukrainian children.
Former President Poroshenko also targeted
Still according to the Russian database, Moscow has also issued wanted notices against the commander of kyiv’s ground forces, Oleksandr Pavliuk, and the former Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko, beaten by Volodymyr Zelensky in the election which the former comedian in power. Their names are added to a very extensive list which includes Russian and foreign personalities.
In February, the name of Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas was added along with those of other officials from the Baltic countries. The Kremlin had invoked, to justify this decision, their opposing vision of History. These states consider that the USSR occupied them, while Moscow sees itself as a liberator and judges any other approach as a “falsification of history“, a crime in Russia.
