An extraordinary project is about to be completed in Gaza. This involves the construction of a humanitarian pontoon built by the United States to transport logistical aid.
It had been expected for weeks. Announced at the beginning of March, the first images of the humanitarian pontoon were revealed. This structure was built by the United States off the coast of Gaza. This will allow the disembarkation of food and hygiene kits intended for the Gazan population. The humanitarian aid will first arrive in Cyprus, where it will be inspected by Israeli authorities. It will be transported by container ship to a first platform, before taking American military barges to a landing stage serving the Gaza Strip.
The total cost of this infrastructure is estimated at 300 million euros. This should allow the United States to deliver aid without a single American soldier on the ground. This alternative is intended to be more effective than airdrops of humanitarian cargo. “We have exceeded 50% completion of the pontoon“, assured Sabrina Singh, the deputy spokesperson for the Pentagon.
