A 4-year-old boy was reportedly seriously injured on Sunday after falling through the window of a caravan while it was traveling at 100 km/h on a French motorway, during a few seconds of his parents’ inattention.

Around 7:30 p.m., emergency services in the Loir-et-Cher region, southwest of Paris, were called to urgently go to the A10 motorway where a 4-year-old boy was seriously injured, after being fell from the window of a moving vehicle, according to France Bleu.

It was after escaping the vigilance of his parents that the little one fell from the caravan, which was then traveling at 100 km/h, according to the French media.

The boy was taken to Clocheville pediatric hospital in Tours to treat serious injuries, while authorities have reportedly not followed up on his condition since.

His relatives were found in a state of severe shock, according to firefighters.

An investigation has been opened to shed light on the incident, according to France Bleu.

This type of incident reminds all parents of young children to be vigilant, while only a few weeks earlier, a similar accident would have occurred in Spain, where a 2-year-old girl would have passed through the window of a moving vehicle while that she had not been tied down by her mother.

If we did not fear for the life of the little one, her mother would have been accused of “serious imprudence” for having failed to use the seat belt and car seat, according to France Live.
