A solidarity camp was set up Thursday morning on the campus of the prestigious American university “Northwestern University” in Chicago, to protest against the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip.

Students from Northwestern University thus joined the demonstrations which had broken out in American universities, like Columbia University, to call for a cease-fire in Gaza.

They demand a “demarcation and disengagement from the war in Gaza and Apartheid”, a “rupture of partnerships which legitimize the genocide in Gaza and the Israeli occupation”, “protection of civil liberties and the security of students ”.

A significant presence of security forces on the campus was noted despite the peaceful climate that reigned there.

The students repeated chants in support of the Palestinians, making rounds and launching slogans such as “Free Palestine” and “Ceasefire now!”

Throughout the day, volunteers brought food and drinks to students mobilized for the Palestinian cause.
