Castres. Volleyball: the Hornets continue their festival in Nationale 2

the essential
The -Massaguel girls scored a fifth victory. Solid winners (3-0) of an electric derby against L'Union, they moved onto the podium.

In each of their outings, the Hornets demonstrate the enormous progress made by Castres Massaguel Volley-Ball over several seasons. Two years ago, Laura Wierre's teammates ended their first season at the highest level with five victories under their belt. A mark that they have already reached in the current financial year after only… five meetings! Received five out of five, the CMVBists are on the podium in their National 2 group and seem to have grown a lot. The derby on Saturday evening is proof of this. In a packed COSEC René-Ferran and white-hot for the reception of the neighbors of L'Union, the protégés of President Stéphane Cabrol fulfilled their double contract: preserving their invincibility this season and putting on a show. In just 80 minutes, the time of a rugby match, the Hornets proved impervious to pressure despite a few air gaps that were ultimately inconsequential.

A great start

Often in diesel mode since the start of the season, the CMVB girls have decided this time to take action from the start. Result, a scathing 6-0 which did not allow the suburbs to enter their match. “Thanks to a good start to the first set, we immediately took control of the match. We set our pace, the defense was effective and the points were concluded in a good way,” said coach Grégory Verscheure.

The rest is messier, but the Castraises stay on the right course. In the second set, the Castres reception became a little disrupted and did not allow the offensive weapons to be fully exploited. The visitors took the opportunity to impose an intense standoff and offer themselves the opportunity to win this set (18-20). Combative, the Hornets will finally find the weapons to reverse the trend and force the decision (25-22).

Determined to offer a victory in three sets to their supporters, the Hornets then felt themselves growing in the third set (7-3, 18-13) before stalling when it was time to conclude, as Grégory Verscheure summarizes. “The third set, where we are in the lead, is a mixture of the first two. To prolong the pleasure of a sold-out match, we even get back up to 24 everywhere. But we conclude this proudly conducted meeting! “. The fourth match point was finally the right one (26-24).
