Forced to retrain at 54, Thierry became a VTC driver in Vendée

At 54, successfully retraining is often complicated. In La Ferrière, Thierry Lisboa just experienced it.

After 17 years spent at Rivière, a construction company in Férré, doctors advised him to no longer expose himself to dust or significant physical exertion.

It is difficult, as a site manager, to respect such instructions. His career in construction had to end there. It was necessary to search late, but quickly, for a new path.

A VTC is not a taxi

Thierry Lisboa then refocuses on his appetites. “I like driving and I like contact with people. I then thought about supporting people with their travel,” he confides.

It becomes VTC driverthat is to say a transport car with driver, a profession frequently confused with that of a taxi driver. However, a VTC does not have the same prerogatives as a taxi.

“First, VTCs cannot respond to a stop in the street like a taxi. The trip must be planned with the customerspecifying its time, duration, distance and price. A taxi can let the meter run, not us! We are also not authorized to transport sick people like taxis do, we have no agreement with the social security,” explains Thierry.

Salary employment is also impossible in this profession. You must register as a self-employed worker.

Thus, Thierry Lisboa had to train and commit to taking courses specific to his activity. He also passed an exam which he passed last spring, where he underwent management tests, negotiation, English, road safety and a driving exercise.

For evenings

Currently, everything is in order. His car, a work tool, is ready to seduce customers. It is a Tesla, model 3with a shiny black outfit. He takes care of his Tesla, not a bit of dust appears on it.

“It's a beautiful all-electric car, powerful and smooth at the same time, very comfortable, without any vibration, not a sound, and what's more, it's very economical! » he boasts.

What types of travel is it suitable for? “I often provide transport for security trips, drunken evenings, weddings or teenagers who go to nightclubs. But I also make journeys for professionals, even very far away, who wish to avoid waiting at stations or very expensive airport parking. I am open to any other type of travel! » suggests Thierry, the only VTC in the region.
