“It’s not just a gray place that smells of mothballs”: Home, the first fiction by Sara de Paduwa comes out this Monday on La Une

Why did you imagine a fiction around home?

“I have always had a deep respect and admiration for the elderly and even more so for those who are in a home. I went there to see my two grandmothers. One of them It’s no longer there today. I continue to go and see each other and each time I go there, I want to talk to the residents to learn about their story. whole story to tell, a life where they, like everyone else, have experienced hardships.”

Why did you decide to make it a fiction and not a documentary?

“First, I wanted to make a documentary. I always found this genre fascinating. But it requires even more work and for me the exercise was new. It was easier to make one fiction with actors and non-actors What also made me lean towards fiction is that I could add a touch of humor, funny situations. But, I want to point out that even if it is. is a fiction and there are humor, I fought to make it realistic. It was filmed in a real home and the situations are plausible.”

Was the objective to break preconceived ideas about men?

“The idea was to give a luminous side to the homes, to give light where there is none. The home is a sort of last residence for its residents. When we think of these places, we think directly in old age and at the end of life. I wanted to show that home is not just a gray place that smells of mothballs. There are also very cool things happening there. of those who are there.”

“I have rarely seen a show this bad”: Faced with disappointing audiences, TF1 deprograms “Gladiators”

Do you want to sell this fiction abroad?

“The desire is there. We have kept a certain Belgianness with the accent, etc. But the humor is universal so it could interest viewers outside our borders. First of all, I hope that it will please to the Belgian public.”

Did you like this new exercise behind the camera?

“I really enjoyed this exercise. I loved being a project manager. It allows me to move on to something else. But it’s not the same pace as animation where everything often goes quickly. In fiction , we have a little more time to do things.”

You make an appearance in one of the episodes of Home. Do you also want to turn to comedy?

“You never know, but if I go into this, I will have to work a lot beforehand, take classes, etc. But, in reality, the shadow attracts me more than the light.”

This Tuesday, The Dancer returns to the front page

The year 2025 is off to a flying start for Sara de Paduwa who, after the broadcast of Home will launch, this Tuesday evening, the second season of The Dancer on La Une. “We didn’t change the formula of The Dancer too much because it worked well that way in the first season. The coaches are even more invested than last year because they feel even better in their bootsexplains the host who adds that what makes the dance show strong is “his human side”. “We told some great stories there and above all, we took the time to tell them.”

“Seen on ” is celebrating its 10th anniversary on RTL, like Laurence and Philippe: “We will still be here in 40 years, on the same sofa, but in a nursing home!”

Alongside these two meetings and her role as columnist in the 8/9 on VivaCité, the host continues to present the 6-8the morning news on La Une. A cap that she would like to gradually take off. “The desire to leave 6-8 is there, in particular because the schedule is very restrictive. I’ve been waking up early for almost 20 years. It becomes difficult to combine with the rest, especially with a life that is more evening-oriented. I don’t think I’ll let go of it right away, but the desire for the turn is there.”
