For this second part of season 7, the writers ofOutlander really decided to play on the fans’ nerves. After letting us think that Jamie had died at sea, leaving Claire completely devastated and ready to commit suicide, it is the doctor’s turn to be a victim of the fertile imagination of the writers of the series and that of the novelist Diana Gabaldon, at the origin of this saga. Throughout episode 15 of season 7 ofOutlanderbroadcast on Saturday January 4 on Netflix in , Claire was very distressed at the idea that Jamie, named General Fraser, could be killed during the Battle of Monmouth, which took place in New Jersey on June 28, 1778, opposing the Continental Army commanded by George Washington and the British forces. However, at the end of the episode, Jamie returns safely to the church that served as a makeshift hospital for the Continental Army. Just in time to see, completely helpless, a British soldier shoot Claire!

Claire is seriously injured in the abdomen. Jamie carries her inside the church but the Continental Army doctor says there is nothing he can do to save her, her injuries are too serious. While Jamie is at his wife’s bedside, a young soldier comes to him with a message from General Lee, who orders him to join him immediately. Furious, Jamie asks the soldier to take off his jacket and shirt, then writes his resignation letter on the latter’s back, with Claire’s blood. Denzel Hunter and his sister Rachel finally arrive and the doctor sets to work to try to save Claire who, before sinking, gives him instructions on what to do. She even has clear enough ideas to think that the Roquefort contained in the basket of food sent by the Marquis de La Fayette could help make penicillin. This episode 15 of season 7 ofOutlander only increases in intensity, making us fear every minute for the lives of Jamie and Claire, until the last quarter of an hour when we tremble for the heroine. Outlander season 7: here’s what happens to Claire and Jamie in Diana Gabaldon’s novel Written in my Own Heart’s Blood

Fortunately, we have several elements about the rest of the plot to be able to answer this question. First of all, we know that Caitriona Balfe filmed the entire season 8 finale ofOutlanderthere is therefore a priori little doubt about the fate of Claire, who should therefore survive this injury. On the other hand, the novels of Diana Gabaldon, from which the series is adapted, give us indications on the rest of the story, if the screenwriters decide to be faithful to them. In the volume Written in my Own Heart’s Bloodwhich is also the title of this episode, Claire is seriously injured during this battle and Jamie stays at her bedside, praying that she survives. Denzel Hunter manages to save the doctor. Jamie having left the Continental Army, he looks forward to returning to Fraser’s Ridge with his wife. Once Claire recovers, they hit the road. There, while they are discussing the ideal place to rebuild their house which had burned down, they see in the distance a family of four people walking towards two: it is Brianna, Roger and the children! This also answers another big question at the end of episode 15 of season 7, about Mandy, Jemmy and Brianna. This episode also gave us news about William and John Grey, as well as Jane Pocock.
