Who says end of year inevitably means taking stock of the last 12 months. So what stood out to the team in terms of TV this year?

Raspberry time – Saison 2
Arianne Lebreux-Ebacher (content producer)
Raspberry time returned for a second season to my great delight. I devoured the first season, and its sequel exceeded my expectations. Not only do the individual quests of the characters (always so endearing!) continue to develop, but the collective aspect of this small dysfunctional community, as touching as it is hilarious, continues to grow, yes on our screen, but especially in our hearts.

Watch over me
Vanessa Hébert (content producer)
Danny Taillon
In all that has been good this year in Quebec, it is difficult not to name Watch over me. The actresses Guylaine Tremblay et Pascale Renaud-Hébert (the first had the idea for the series, the other wrote it) are fair and moving in this show where a grandmother wants to obtain custody of her grandson when the boy's mother, unfit to 'taking care of it, comes back into the decor. Complex and harsh themes like drug addiction, domestic violence, poverty and neglect are addressed, but never in a haughty way. Despite everything, a certain light manages to emerge from Watch over me.

As a lover of suspense and science fiction, I can say that I was fully served. This series, which goes off the beaten track of Quebec television, brings a welcome freshness and a touch of originality. Antoine Pilon delivers a remarkable performance in the lead role, while Maude Guérin, true to herself, proves once again that she is one of our great actresses.

I was totally seduced by this murder mystery type series, which is somewhat reminiscent of Knives Out of Rian Johnson or even Ready or Not of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin et Tyler Gillettwith its captivating plot, impactful scenes and often unexpected twists and turns. The actors are excellent, and I found that this universe brought a real breath of fresh air to the Quebec television landscape.

I loved the first season, so I was waiting for the second with great impatience and I was not disappointed. I devoured the series in a weekend. Julianne Côté's writing is refreshing and the acting is credible and modern. We just want to be friends with this beautiful gang and, above all, to have a father like the one played by Patrice Robitaille!

MasterChef Quebec (saison 2)

I completely fell for the second season of MasterChef Quebec! A season that never ceased to surprise us, filled with twists and turns and strong emotions. From the start, I placed my bets, but as the episodes progressed, certain budding chefs took me by surprise. I can say that they made me hungry, really hungry, with each new creation! I enjoyed each participant, but it was undoubtedly Jade Auclair-Roy who stole my heart. I also love following his culinary capsules on Facebook and his Instagram page festin.festive.

As soon as this series was announced by Sarah Maude Beauchesne and her partner, Nicola Morel, I was immediately won over. She reinvents universal themes such as friendship, parenthood and mourning, while immersing us in the intimacy of complex characters. Between tears and laughter, one thing is certain: we have the irresistible desire to be part of this united group of friends.

Indefensible

Since day 1, I have followed the adventures of the defense lawyers from the Lapointe-Macdonald firm in Indefensible. This season, I particularly appreciated the intrigue surrounding the character of Béatrice Choquette. It was interesting to see the excellent Alice Morel-Michaud in the shoes of this mother accused of having killed her children. This fall, we were also able to discover the acting talents of Ève Salvail as Marleen, a prisoner on the run who committed a double murder. I am also delighted with the arrival of Maxim Roy in this daily newspaper. His character of Me Alain is intriguing. Looking forward to learning more about her!
