The principle of the show A Sunday in the Countryside is simple, but deeply human and touching. Frédéric Lopez invites three personalities who he will, with delicacy, invited to confide about their life, their past. On December 1, the show welcomed Louis Chedid, Audrey Dana and Baptiste Lecaplain. And when the time comes for the latter to express himself, it is with impressive transparency, but palpable emotion, that he will share his childhood memories, some of which are particularly difficult.

From the first moments he speaks, the actor and comedian will explain the context of his birth. A difficult context since the child will be born after the doctors have announced the worst to his parents. Baptiste Lecaplain will also share the story of his father. A father whose mother committed suicide when he was just 16 and who will be blamed by the whole village at the time. A difficult story, which will mark Baptiste's father with a hot iron and which, somewhere, will permeate the child that was the actor.

A father who fell into alcohol

As Baptiste Lecaplain explains, his father's story is tough. After the suicide of his own mother, the teenager that he was is accused by the entire village of being responsible for this death. “His mother committed suicide when he was 16. The whole village tells her “It's your fault if she committed suicide”“, says Baptiste Lecaplain. His father found himself forced to stop school and put his life aside in order to provide for the needs of his brother and sisters. A family context which will gradually cause the man to fall into the alcohol. An addiction from which the man will obviously not be able to escape and which will have consequences on the life of the Lecaplain family.

There is one meal during the week that is so good, it's every Saturday, we go to the pizzeria“, explains the actor and comedian, “And that's so good, because they can't argue in the restaurant“. And at the time, the young Baptist was already aware of many things. He says that despite the conflict situation at home, he really doesn't want his parents to separate. An event which, if it had taken place, could have spelled the end for his father.

“I know that…”

I definitely don't want my parents to separate“, says Baptiste Lecaplain, “Because I know that my father, who has no family base nearby, has no one left,
I know if he's alone it's over
“. A confidence full of emotions which will make Audrey Dana react. The actor and comedian then explains that, far from the clichés, his father remains an adorable person, but that he suffers. In silence. Baptiste Lecaplain continued his confidences explaining that the suicide of a parent has serious consequences on children, and her father was no exception.

My father had his little faults too“, he said, “So he went into the garage, and he put a rope up“. A confidence that will challenge Fréderic Lopez who will simply ask a question: “How did you know?”. “I see the rope, I see it in the garage“, explains Baptiste Lecaplain. Continuing his confidences, the actor and comedian also explains that the child he was experienced several moments where he ensured, from afar, that his father never passed the course and carries out his threats.
