In September 2022, Alexandra Pizzagali entered the Telematin. At the time, she had carte blanche to offer a humorous piece.
Unfortunately, what started as a trial run quickly turned into a fiasco.
After technical problems linked to the teleprompter, the young woman chose to launch into a portrait of the “asshole of the week”, by selecting Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlelthe terrorist responsible for the Nice attack in 2016, which left 86 victims.
France Télévisions is outraged
This choice, considered inappropriate, and the tone of his text a little too much “limit“, led the channel to urgently interrupt the column, broadcasting a page of advertising to cut short the irreverence.
Faced with the controversy, France Télévisions then reacted by publishing a press release to calm things down and put an end to the controversy: “The management of France Télévisions and the teams of “Telematin” regret that a humorous column rightly offended many viewers. We apologize and express our solidarity with the victims of the Nice attack and their loved ones“.
Thomas Sotto and Julia Vignali, co-hosts at the time of the column, also apologized live before announcing the ousting of Alexandra Pizzagali.
A dark period after Télématin
More than two years after this traumatic ordeal, the comedian has gradually regained his strength. According to The Parisian“in the profession, she can still count on loyal support“.
However, before finding a semblance of stability, the young woman went through a particularly dark period. Between anxiety attacks, work stoppage and insults, she was confronted with such torment that she considered taking a radical decision to escape her ordeal.
“I didn't see any happy prospects in a week, a year, ten years. I say to myself: Eureka, I found it. As I believe in reincarnation, I will end this life and move on to the next“, she confided in the columns of our colleagues.
Ultimately, it was those close to her who supported her and helped her get back on track. “Their potential pain saved me“, she explained. “People who act out, it's not that they don't have empathy, it's just that they have gone a little deeper in terms of suffering.“. A moving testimony.
