The 4e edition of the Île-de-France Historical Book Fair, which took place on Sunday, November 24, in Beaumont, showed, in a new way, how much the Cercle Beaumontois chaired by Marie-Camille Svetovidoff knew how to mobilize to organize a complete event. The vice-president of the association, Fabrice Millereau, is the creator of this show. Secretary Jérémie David organized two fascinating conferences on Missak Manouchian by Denis Peschanski, historian, emeritus research director at the CNRS, co-author of the book “Missak Manouchian”; and on Argenteuil resident Rino delle Negra, who belonged to his resistance group, by Marine Chailloux, co-founder of the Rino au Panthéon association.
The mayor of Beaumont, Jean-Michel Aparicio, insisted on the role and sacrifice of “these two men, two foreigners who had chosen the France of human rights, the France of the Revolution, the France of the Enlightenment (who) were shot to death so that we could be free”. For the city councilor the memory of these two heroes “enlightens us even as the current difficulties of our country awaken the old demons of nationalism, xenophobia and populism”.
