“With Simon Coleman, we give a good kick in the archetype of the macho white male!”

With the episode Stray bullet (our opinion), Simon Colemanthe big-hearted cop from France 2, who came to live in the south of France to look after his three orphaned nephews, Jean-Michel Tinivelli finds the gabardines of this hero created in 2022. If it remains faithful to its fundamentals – a clever mix of detective story and comedy – the series returns in a new format, going from three 90-minute units to six 52-part episodes, broadcast over three consecutive evenings. The actor, who has gone down in history thanks to Alice Nevers, the judge is a woman, whose possible return to TF1 is being discussed, looks back at this notable development.

Jean-Michel Tinivelli: “Throughout the episodes of Simon Colemanwe have created a real family unit”

Télé-Loisirs: How will this change of format impact the series?
Jean-Michel Tinivelli:
Above all, it allowed us to get to the point, to be more concise, more efficient. I really liked the idea of bringing Victoria back [interprétée par Diane Robert, ndlr]the aunt who wants to get Coleman’s nephews back and will threaten their balance. And then I still find it funny and interesting to see this guy who struggles in this happy family mess, with a lot of good will, and who gives a good kick in the archetype of the macho white male. This year, the theme is: “little children, little worries, big children, big worries”!

You have been a blended family with your three young partners for two years now. How has your relationship evolved?
We were very happy to meet up again in February, when filming resumed. Just like a group of friends! Over the course of the episodes, we created a real family unit. They trust me very much, I have pretty much the same relationship as I do with the children of my friends who I knew when they were little. I remember that at the beginning of the adventure, I gave them a watchword: “Fuck it up, have fun, be naughty kids! But with me, be obedient!“In the game as in life, I have to show direction and be respected as an adult. But the truth is, there aren’t three brats in Simon Coleman. With me, that makes four! (he laughs)

Which guests will we find alongside you this season?
I was very happy to shoot with Rebecca Hampton, with whom I had never worked, and to see Jérémie Covillauly again, with whom we had a good laugh! Just like Mélanie Maudran, who came to join us in Alice Nevers, the judge is a woman.

A third season of Simon Coleman is it already considered?
Barring an unforeseen catastrophe, it is already being written.

What can you tell us about the rumor of a possible return ofAlice Nevers ?
I heard Marine Delterme talk about it in the press. It’s all becoming concrete, we’ve all talked – the channel, the production, Marine and I – and, if we agree on the texts, we’ll start with a special double episode, a mix of detective story and romantic comedy. It can be set up very quickly. In addition, I have a mini-series project with UGC.
