Cole Palmer’s lob in our 6-2 victory at Wolverhampton Wanderers has won the Premier League’s Goal of the Month award for August.

The free-flowing goal started with Blues goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, who delivered a 70-yard pass to Nicolas Jackson that enabled the Senegal international to dink the ball into the path of Palmer.

With his trademark composure and clinical nature in front of goal, Cole deftly clipped the ball over the onrushing Jose Sa to make it 2-1 to the Blues – and he then produced his trademark ‘cold’ celebration.

August proved a special month for our No.20, who will add this prize to his Chelsea Goal of the Month award. Palmer was also nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Month gong.

The attacker’s finish saw off tough competition from Jean-Ricner Bellegarde (Wolves), Yves Bissouma (Tottenham Hotspur), Jarrod Bowen (West Ham United), Liam Delap (Ipswich Town), Luis Diaz (Liverpool), Mateo Kovacic (Manchester City) and Yukinari Sugawara (Southampton).

Congratulations, Cole!
