Comedian Pierre Palmade was sentenced this Wednesday to five years in prison, including two years for involuntary injuries aggravated after the serious car accident caused by drugs in February 2023 in Seine-et-. A conviction but no immediate incarceration, because a deferred committal warrant was requested. What does this change?

Pierre Palmade will not escape prison. In a highly publicized trial this Wednesday at the court, the former comedian was sentenced to five years in prison, two of which are closed. He was found guilty of unintentional injury resulting in three injuries, including a young pregnant woman who lost her unborn baby. A warrant of detention with deferred effect has been requested. But what does this mean in practice? Europe 1 takes stock.

A few days of freedom

The deferred committal warrant allows Pierre Palmade to avoid prison for the moment. He was not directly imprisoned at the end of his trial. The former comedian still has a few days of freedom, around ten, to prepare for his detention, time for example to gather his belongings, or to see certain relatives… Days at the end of which he will meet the judge responsible for implementing prison sentences. , where he lives.

It is he who will notify him of the place and date of his incarceration. A sentence that Pierre Palmade cannot, however, adjust since he received at least two years in prison. This is the threshold, set since 2020, for no longer being able to arrange a conviction. Already on an electronic bracelet before the trial, it is however not impossible that due to health problems, Pierre Palmade was then released from prison, to finish serving his sentence in a care center, under surveillance.
