The cast of Dexter: Original Sin continues to expand with the arrival of Sarah Michelle Gellar in a rather interesting role.
Paramount+ and Showtime continue to tease their upcoming series about the youth of Dexter. The most famous serial killer on television will make his big comeback in a prequel. The latter will indeed take place in 1991, in Miami.
Dexter is a college student on the verge of becoming a serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can no longer be ignored, the young man finds comfort and understanding in his adoptive father Harry. Harry teaches him rules to help him spot and kill people who deserve to die, all while avoiding being caught by law enforcement. It’s a unique challenge for the rookie forensics intern at the Miami Police Department.

And we know a little more about his new colleagues. Showtime has indeed just reveal the name of the one who will be at the head of the Miami Metro Police and who will have Dexter in her sights: Sarah Michelle Gellar! After having fought creatures of all kinds in Buffy several decades ago, the actress, now 47 years old, adds a new string to her bow.
Although we don’t yet know what the relationship between the two characters will be, we can well imagine Tanya Martin keeping a close eye on the criminal’s actions… Especially since she won’t be alone in this affair: young Dexter will also have to deal with a certain Aaron Spencer – played by former Dr. Mamour Patrick Dempsey – captain of Miami Metro Homicide, a branch of the Miami police.

A casting that makes you want
As a reminder, it is the young Patrick Gibson who has been chosen to lend his features to the hero. The actor, seen in particular in the excellent series The OA and Shadow and Bone, will have to do as well as Michael C. Hall in the role of the meticulous killer.
Christian Slater will play his adoptive father Harry and young Molly Brown will play Debra, his little sister. Characters that Dexter fans know well… While Paramount and Showtime are gradually revealing their cards and their ambitions for this prequel, the choice of actors raises the anticipation a little more around this series, which we actually had no real need.
But we will have to wait until 2025 to see if the result is up to par.
