why Axel went independent

He recently warned about the too intense pace of the “Star Academy” tour. This time, Axel Marbeuf spoke to the microphone of our colleagues at Purechartson the reasons which pushed him to build his career as a freelancer:

“Leaving Star Ac, we have a priority contract with the show’s record company which decides if they want to produce us. They have the choice or not to sign us, and they chose not to sign me explaining that there was a lot of work to be done. Pierre had just won so inevitably they focused on him, they signed other candidates and what they told me was that in truth, there aren’t enough teams for everyone. “.

Surprising information, especially since the 23-year-old singer had a flawless performance on the show. The semi-finalist therefore had no other choice, forced to start his career without the help of any label.

“I didn’t want to be in anyone’s shadow, I wanted to work like the others and not be left on the sidelines for a year and a half or two years before calling back. It’s more complicated to find your place in indie but I think it’s not impossible. The advantage, indeed, is to have the freedom to make the music that I want to make, not that pleases a team above me who would decide.”, he confides. The artist is also working on his first album. “I would like it to tell a logical story, which is that of my life as a 24-year-old young man who knows ups, downs, happy moments, sad moments. There will be a bit of all that in this album. It will talk about me, my past, my future, the people around me, the trials I went through…”

And risk which seems to pay off for the one who has just released his second single titled “For the first time”, very well received by the public.

“I am very pleasantly surprised, I did not expect so much positive feedback”declared the young singer in his interview given to Purecharts.

In a recent vlog published on the channel YouTube from Candice this Sunday, June 23, Axel also reiterated his comments on the too frantic pace of the tour:

“This week, we have 7 shows to do in 5 days. We are really going to have to have the strength of the public and I have no doubt about that because you always give strength. But you have to know that it’s hard for us. When we get to the end of the week and we have to do two doublets… It already scares me.” he confides, supported by Candice who nods: “It’s horrible. My body is already tired of what is going to happen. This is a real problem. Tell yourself that we are at the beginning [de la semaine, ndlr] et look at our level of exhaustion”.

A statement that Candice was quick to validate, declaring about her state of fatigue that she had reached the maximum mark on a scale of 1 to 10. Not very reassuring confessions, especially when we know that Pierre recently had to cancel his presence on numerous dates following health problems…
