Weather report

Hard to believe it, but the sun was finally back this Monday, June 24, after long, very long weeks of rain. In the afternoon, in Bordeaux, the thermometer showed 30°C. What delighted local residents: “It’s been eight months in the region, we’ve had a bit of painful weather. And here, the first sign of real sunshine, I think it’s going to last. So, we’re good,” says one of them in the TF1 8 p.m. report visible at the top of this article. “I really want to go swimming”, adds a young girl. Some put their words into action and refreshed themselves in the city’s fountains.

There’s a little boost of energy to buy truly summer clothes and treat yourself.

Arthur Ouinet, manager of a clothing store

As for the restaurants, at midday, the terraces were full. For customers, there is no question of forgetting sunglasses. “The last time we took them out was under Giscard. So, indeed, I had difficulty finding them. They are there now and I think they will stay on my head all day “quips one of them.

The return of consumers is good news for Yves Jacquemoire, waiter at “Skull Miroir”. “We have two lines out of three full, yesterday we only had one line scattered on the terrace. We are going to take full advantage of it. And every opportunity will be good to please people”, he says. And to add: “The sun is very good for business, especially in summer.”

In the stores, it was a big move. Just two days before the sales, Arthur Ouinet, manager of the clothing store “L’Île Bleue”, transformed his window. “We add swimsuits, shorts, sunglasses, caps. There’s a little boost of energy to buy truly summer clothes and have fun”he explains.

Meanwhile, on the banks of the Garonne, we are already preparing the wine festival. The good weather also makes the work easier. “No wet ground, we can work at height more safely. It’s nicer than the sun”, admits Olivier Debehogne, signage agent at Connect. While in the parks, many were looking for a little freshness. One worker even relocated his office to a patch of grass. “It allows you to change everyday life a little bit. The more pleasant the setting, the more efficient you are at work”he assures.

But be careful, this sunny interlude will only last for a while. The rain will return this weekend.
