San Francisco Bay Area thrash metal veterans Death Angel are gearing up to record their highly anticipated tenth studio album. Following the success of 2019’s Humanicide , the band is set to hit the studio in a few weeks, and drummer Will Carroll has expressed his excitement and eagerness for the project.
On June 30, Carroll took to Facebook to share his thoughts: “So… I’m going into the studio in a few weeks to record drums for Death Angel’s tenth studio album. This will be my fifth album with the band (seventh if you count the two live albums). Rob [Cavestany, guitariste] and I have been working hard to demo and rehearse these songs to get them as tight and well thought out as possible. This is the longest pre-production I have ever been involved in and the longest for the band since I joined. These new songs are a wild thrash metal ride and then some. Let’s go.”
Carroll emphasized the intensive pre-production process the band undertook, a first in his tenure with Death Angel. The band rehearsed and polished their new material diligently to ensure a flawless final product. Carroll said: “We played the songs live while listening to the demos (with the drums and second guitar removed) with a click. It took us a little while to get used to it, but things are going really well now. I’ve never been so well prepared for a recording.”
Lead singer Mark Osegueda has been balancing his commitments with Death Angel with his role as vocalist on Slayer guitarist Kerry King’s debut solo album, From Hell I Rise, which was released on May 17. Despite these commitments, Osegueda remains focused on contributing to Death Angel’s upcoming album.
