Miou-Miou, Virginie Ledoyen and Clotilde Hesme will make you melt in this series broadcast on Arte this Thursday, June 20

You don’t like football, and the Spain/Italy clash broadcast on M6 doesn’t tempt you? Don’t panic, ARTE has thought of you. This Thursday, June 20, from 8:55 p.m., the Franco-German channel is rebroadcasting a series by Valérie Donzelli : Nona and her daughters. In the casting of fiction? Miou-Miou, Virginie Ledoyen and Clotilde Hesme, who together form a real and very friendly little family. Imagined and written by filmmaker Valérie Donzelli and Clémence Madeleine-Perdrillat, Nona and her daughters is totally crazy fiction! And Télé-Loisirs tells you why you shouldn’t miss it.

Nona and her daughters : What is the series rebroadcast this Thursday June 20 on Arte about?

We teleport, we sing, we talk to the camera, we meet André Breton… There are lots of things in the series of Valerie Donzelli, especially madness and poetry. With the nine short episodes of Nona and her daughters, the director-actress finds the vein of her film Our Lady. It’s fanciful and might confuse some people. Too bad for them, they will miss out on a little sweetness which has no other claim than to entertain us while making us think, pell-mell, about the notion of gender, the right of women to dispose of their own body or parity. On paper, this somewhat militant feminist subtext could have worked against it.

In the image, it’s quite the opposite: the speech hits the mark, because it is distilled with a lot of irony by a quartet of actresses in great form. In the end, this story that Jacques Demy (whose film The most important event since man walked on the Moon was undoubtedly an inspiration) of an unwanted pregnancy of a septuagenarian, mother of triplets all given an asexual first name (and again, we’re simplifying), is a little gem!

Nona and her daughters (Arte): Miou-Miou, Virginie Ledoyen, Valérie Donzelli and Clotilde Hesme queens of the tragicomic

Of this comic quartet, it would undoubtedly be quite hard to choose one over the other. Nona and her daughters is a series of actresses (and a few actors), perfectly balanced and each has their part to play. So of course, we will highlight the performance of the discreet Miou-Miou, excellent as a septuagenarian lost by a very late pregnancy, but with her feet on the ground, since this is her very first series. But honestly, it’s just enough to encourage her to continue the serial exercise, if indeed this great lady of cinema really needs encouragement.
