2024 legislative elections

A simple email received Friday evening, around 11 p.m., containing a list of candidates nominated by La France insoumise (LFI) in the legislative elections… but not his. This is how the deputy for Seine-Saint-Denis Alexis Corbière learned from his party that he was not being reappointed. “In a private box, it wouldn’t even happen like that, without any comments or phone calls,” lamented Alexis Corbière on the 1 p.m. set of TF1 Weekend.

He is not the only one in this case: Raquel Garrido, Danielle Simonnet, Hendrik Davi and Frédéric Mathieu were not invested by LFI either. What do they have in common? Their opposition, internally, to Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the leader of the Insoumis. “It’s irresponsible. Doing this at a time when we need to be brought together is to weaken us collectively”regretted Alexis Corbière.

“A problem of practices”

“There is a problem with practices within LFI. Other practices must emerge. Those who are elected must resolve this problem because next time they will be the victims of this type of method.” warned the outgoing LFI deputy, deploring a movement more “foggy” that “gaseous”. “We who want a more democratic VIᵉ Republic, but, with a movement like that, we are not demonstrating it”he also regretted, before driving the point home with regard to Jean-Luc Mélenchon and those close to him: “We don’t lead a left-wing movement like a small principality.”

Alexis Corbière also spoke about his “support for all candidates of the New Popular Front in all constituencies”. “They are all magnificent people who must be elected”insisted Alexis Corbière. “I say it clearly (Editor’s note: to the voters): do not let yourself be distracted, do not let yourself be disturbed by what is happening”continued the MP.
