Widely acclaimed by viewers since its launch in November 2021 on Netflix, “Arcane” is preparing to make a resounding return to the small screen, with a final season 2 comprising nine breathtaking episodes.
An undeniable success. Since its launch on Netflix in November 2021, “Arcane” has managed to rank among the best series in history thanks to the talents of screenwriters Christian Linke and Alex Lee, two members of the creative team at Riot Games, the developer of the video game Leagues of Legend, but also from the French studio Fortiche whose technical and artistic mastery was acclaimed around the world, after the first nine episodes were put online.
Surprisingly, and appreciably, Netflix announced that a season 2 would see the light of day, but that this would be the last, with the main plot coming to an end at the end of the next nine episodes. A courageous decision that commands respect in an industry where, too often, the lure of profit compromises the quality of a production adored by its audience. Without transition, here is everything we know about the second chapter of “Arcane”. Warning, spoilers!
What do we know about the plot?
No special knowledge of the Leagues of Legend video game is necessary to discover “Arcane”. If the series is inspired by this universe, it plants its plot in the world of Runeterra. There, the rich inhabitants of the city Piltover and those of the slums of the Zaun district oppose each other. Vi and Powder (who will become Jinx as an adult) are two sisters orphaned after the death of their parents at the hands of the Piltover police. They find themselves under the protection of Vander, a former boxer with a big heart who once fought for his ideals.
However, a tragic event will end up separating the two sisters, Vi finding herself behind bars, while Jinx becomes the muse of Silco, a criminal who dreams of bringing Piltover to its knees. At the same time, a young scientist named Jayce makes a discovery that may link technology to magic. A promise which could, however, turn against its creators.
Season 2 ended on an unbearable cliffhanger, with Jinx launching a rocket towards the Piltover council chambers where the city’s most prominent members meet. There is no doubt that the victims will be numerous. And the consequences of this destructive act. A confrontation between the two sisters seems inevitable, while Viktor – who we know will become more powerful – could become a central element of the plot. We will also follow the unlikely duo formed by Ekko and Heimerdinger in the upcoming story. Other surprises are expected, according to the latest trailer.
Who will be in the casting?
In the original version, Hailee Steinfeld and Ella Purnell play Vi and Jinx, respectively. The first is known for having dubbed the character of Gwen Stacey in the “Spider-Man: Spider-Verse” saga, while Ella Purnell shone in the casting of the excellent series “Yellowjackets” and more recently in “Fallout”.
John Spisak reprises the voice of Silco, Harry Lloyd is Viktor, Toks Olagundoye plays Mel Medarda, Reed Shannon plays Ekko, and Mick Wingert reprises the voice of Heimerdinger. Brett Tucker will officially be the voice of Singed, after no mention in season 1.
When will it be released?
This final season 2 of “Arcane” will be launched from November 9 on Netflix. Small subtlety however, this last burst of episodes will be divided into three acts, with a first part on November 9, a second on November 16, and the grand finale from November 23. With three episodes each to discover.
“It’s very good. I did the voices for the last episode, and I cried. It’s so incredible. What they did, the images. I can’t wait for fans to see the episodes. Their patience will be rewarded, that’s all I can say,” said Ella Purnell about this season 2.
