The public service will offer coverage never before seen on French free-to-air television with three channels broadcasting the event continuously.

Official broadcaster of Paris 2024 Olympic Games in clear (July 27-August 11), France Télévisions is thinking big with a completely new system. The kick-off will take place with the opening ceremony on Friday July 26 from 7:30 p.m. on France 2 commented by Laurent Delahousse, Daphné Bürki and Alexandre Boyon.

Concerning the broadcast of the competition, the public service offers an unprecedented retransmission. “There will not be one choice but two choices of linear televisionexplains Laurent-Éric Le Lay, sports director of the group. Viewers will be able to follow the competitions on France 2 and France 3 throughout the day with, in addition, a digital channel also dedicated to the event. » Each has a precise editorial line. La Deux will offer the main disciplines of the competition, notably swimming in the first week and athletics in the second. “We also have the ambition to bring all the medals to life live”continues Laurent-Éric Le Lay.

France 3, for its part, will position itself on Olympic team sports tournaments with the possibility of broadcasting all of the matches of the women’s and men’s teams, but also on sports that take place over a long period of time such as track cycling, gymnastics or sailing. The usual faces of sports like Laurent Luyat, Matthieu Lartot, Cécile Grès and Cédric Beaudou will bring the two channels to life throughout the day.

The third channel, broadcast on France.TV, will focus on urban sports such as BMX, 3 x 3 basketball or break dancing and will be hosted by four content creators: Alizé Lim, Manon Lanza, Zack Nani and Rivenzi.

In total, the public service will offer 50 hours of live broadcast per day. To bring the event to life, three stages have been planned: one on the roof of the Musée de l’Homme at the Trocadéro with a magnificent view of the Eiffel Tower (France 2), another at the Club France in la Villette (France 3) and the third in the premises of France Télévisions.

France Télévisions will also broadcast the Paralympic Games from August 29 to September 8. Matthieu Lartot and Alexandre Boyon will comment on the opening ceremony which will be held on August 28 on France 2. To broadcast the events, the public service will rely on the usual system of switches between France 2 and France 3 to offer 24-hour broadcasting. on 24 while France.tv will broadcast all the disciplines, a first. “We offer comprehensive coverage that has never been done before”continues Laurent-Éric Le Lay.

The group was also very ambitious regarding its consultants with some new luxury recruits to cover the event such as Tony Parker for basketball, Brahim Asloum for boxing or Laure Manaudou for swimming. Marie-José Pérec will speak during the day. In total, the Olympic and Paralympic Games will benefit from the expertise of 82 consultants.

Every evening, around 11:15 p.m., Léa Salamé and Laurent Luyat will present “At the Games!”, a live talk show in which they will receive many guests and in particular the Olympic medals. Michel Drucker, who was to present this program with the host but was unable to do so due to health problems, will be the guest on the first show on Saturday July 27.

Television broadcasts and news will take on the colors of the Olympic Games. Thus, “Télématin” will continue throughout the competition and will be presented, live, by Thomas Sotto and Louise Ekland (Marie Portolano being on maternity leave) from the terrace of the Musée de l’Homme. The 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. television news will also be presented from this exceptional set (during their broadcast, the Olympic events will be broadcast on France 5).
